Facing breast surgery such as mastectomy and lumpectomy, is not only a medical event, it is a physical, psychological, and identity-altering experience. This evidence-based, one-hour online course is designed to prepare patients before surgery, addressing what is often missing from standard care: integrated physical and psychological preparation.
This course is co-facilitated by Jen Mackenzie, a highly experienced lymphoedema specialist physiotherapist who has supported countless people through recovery after mastectomy, and Clinical Psychologist, Nurse and BRCA Previvor Natasha Jivan, with extensive experience in, working with women navigating the emotional and identity impacts of mastectomy. Natasha also has a lived experience of a double mastectomy herself.
Together, we provide a clear, compassionate, and practical roadmap for what to expect, before and after surgery.

Who this course is for?
This course is for people preparing for mastectomy who want honest, grounded information and support, without minimisation, platitudes, or overwhelm. It is equally relevant whether surgery is imminent or still being planned.
Why this course matters
Many patients report that no one prepared them for how mastectomy would feel physically or psychologically. This course exists to change that. Preparation improves recovery, reduces fear of the unknown, and helps individuals feel more informed, supported, and in control at a time when much feels uncertain.
This is not therapy and it is not rehabilitation, but it is a critical first step in informed, whole-person care before surgery.
